When collecting the vehicle, the lead driver must present the following:
- Driver's License
(Must have at least 2 year's experience. If your license contains any characters which are not in the Roman alphabet, you will also require an International Driver's Permit)
- Credit card in the lead driver's name (Visa, Mastercard, Diners or AMEX only).
- Passport or National Identity Card
- Booking confirmation email (Printed if possible)
When collecting your vehicle you will be required to leave a security deposit
on your payment card.

Full to full:
All Carwiz vehicles are supplied on a Full to Full basis meaning that the vehicle will be full when you collect it and should be returned full to avoid further charges.
All Carwiz rentals of 1-29 days come with unlimited mileage provided that you remain in Croatia.
If taking the vehicle into another country, you must inform staff at the collection desk and pay the Cross Border Fee; mileage on all cross-border rentals is limited to 150km per day.
Fees and Taxes
All taxes are included in this price.
Admin fees: Please also be aware that most suppliers charge administration fees following damages or for processing fines. Carwiz charge a €75 EUR administration fee per incident should there be any accidents or theft and €50 EUR for each parking/traffic infringement received.
At Zagreb Airport, you will find the Carwiz office Inside the airport terminal building.
When collecting the car, the lead and any additional drivers must present their full, valid driver's license. Photocopies are not accepted. You must have had your license for at least 2 years and all drivers must be aged 18 or older.
Your license must be written using only standard Roman characters or else you will also require an International Driver's Permit.
Carwiz accept most major credit cards (Visa, Mastercard, Diners and American Express). The card must be in the lead driver's name. No other forms of payment (Pre-paid credit cards, Laser, Maestro, debit, or Switch cards) are accepted when collecting the vehicle.
When paying the final bill, you may also use pre-paid or Electron cards. Cash can also be used to pay the final bill but only in the following offices - Zagreb Center 1, Zagreb Center 2, Split Center and Rijeka Centre.
Once your paperwork has been inspected, you will be asked to sign a Rental Agreement. This is a contract between you and the car hire company and contains the terms and conditions for your rental. The agreement may include some location-specific conditions as well as setting out the limitations of any cover you have and the extra costs you may be liable for. You will be given the keys once you and any additional drivers have signed the agreement but don't rush, once you've signed you are legally bound to the terms of that document.
Cross Border Rules
Carwiz do allow you to take your vehicle outside Croatia but you will be required to pay the €75 Cross Border Fee and you will be limited to 150km per day. This can be requested at the collectiond desk. Travel to the following countries is permitted:
Austria, Belgium, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Czech Republic, Denmark, Finland, France, Germany, Great-Britain, Hungary, Ireland, Italy, Liechtenstein, Latvia, Luxemburg, Lithuania, Monaco, Montenegro, Netherlands, Norway, Portugal, San Marino, Serbia, Slovenia, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland, Vatican City.
Additional branch permisson is needed for travel to Greece, Kosovo, Albania, Bulgaria, Poland, Romania, Slovakia. For these countries you should make your request at least 2 working days before you collect your vehicle.
Travel by ferry is also permitted but you must pay the €25 Island/Ferry Travel Fee or your insurance will be invalid.
If you are delayed and will be more than 1 hour late for collection or arriving near to closing time, Carwiz ask that you contact your collection office and inform them of the delay or your booking may be cancelled. If you are late arriving at an airport due to a delayed flight and you have given your flight number, you should not need to contact Carwiz - they will make best efforts to remain open until your flight arrives. If you'll now be arriving after closing time however, it is still advisable to phone them.
Any collections or returns taking place outside their open hours will incur an Out Of Hours service fee. This mean that if you are late and Carwiz agree to remain open for you, you will be charged €37.50 if arriving before 23:00 or €50 if later.
Insurance and Cover
Included in the price
This product includes Collision Damage Waiver (CDW) with Theft Protection and Third Party Liability Cover. This means that you are insured for damage to or theft of the vehicle and also against any third party claims but you will pay an excess on any claims.
In any situation, you are not covered for damage or loss as a result of violating the conditions set out in your rental agreement.
Some parts of the vehicle are not covered by your insurance including the underneath and roof of the vehicle, clutch, glass, mirrors, tyres and wheels. You can purchase the extra "Wheels, Underside and Glass" (WUG) product at the collection desk which adds cover for those three iterms. Also be aware that you are not covered when taking the vehicle on a ferry - additional cover for this can be purchased at the collection desk costing €25 per rental. (You are advised to request this in advance).
There is a €75 EUR administration fee to be paid following any damages or theft.
All vehicles are supplied with breakdown cover for genuine mechanical faults with the vehicle but you would not be covered for callouts to attend to locked keys, flat tyres, flat batteries or running out fo fuel. You can purchase Extended Roadside Protection at the collection desk to cover these kinds of issue.
This vehicle comes with basic cover for theft or damage to the vehicle. Should there be any damage, you will be liable for up to €820 inclusive of taxes. Carwiz will offer you two excess reduction policies at the collection desk to lower or completely remove the excess on this vehicle.
Please pay attention to the procedure for reporting an incident which will be explained in your rental agreement at the collection desk. Failing to follow this procedure could result in you being liable for the full value of the claim.
All Carwiz vehicles are supplied with a full tank and should be returned full to avoid additional charges. Should you return the vehicle with less fuel, you will be charged for the missing fuel at a higher than normal rate PLUS a €37.50 refuelling service charge.
If you would prefer not to have to refuel, you can choose to pre-pay the tank of fuel and return it empty with no extra charges. The fuel you purchase is sold at a rate comparable to local fuel stations. Be aware that with this option you are not refunded for un-used fuel but, for this reason, Carwiz will give you 5L of fuel for free which means that so long as the vehicle is returned nearly empty, you won't be out of pocket.
There is no need to pre-book additional drivers as they can be added at the collection desk. Each driver will need to bring their driver's license (and an International Driver's Permit if the license contains any characters that are not in the standard Roman alphabet) and pay for Additional Driver Insurance which costs €10 per driver, per day (VAT included, max €100). This price remains the same for young and senior drivers.
When driving in Croatia, Children under the age of 12 are not allowed to travel in the front except for those aged less than 2 who may be on the front seat but only when in suitable child seat which is rear-facing and the airbag has been deactivated. Children aged 4 or less must use a child seat in the rear of the car. Those aged 5-12 must use the vehicle's 3 point seat belt with booster seat if necessary. Carwiz provide infant, child and booster seats.
Carwiz also provide GPS, WiFi and GoPro devices. Winter Tyres are included for free where required by Croatian law.
Carwiz (like most car rental companies) do not allow extras to be reserved in advance. We include the request on your booking but they are subjet to availability at the collection desk. That said, they do allow you to email their reservations team with any essential items - details will be provided on your booking email.
Delivery and Collection
Carwiz offer a vehicle collection and delivery service that costs €40 when during office hours and within city limits (or within 10km of the Carwiz office). If more than 10km away, you will pay €40 plus €1 per additional kilometre.
To request this service, simply contact your Carwiz office once you have made your booking. Please provide at least 2 working days notice.
Changes to length of rental
On returning the vehicle, Carwiz only give a 29 minute grace period for late returns before you will be charged for a whole, additional day's rental - better to book a slightly later return time if in doubt (the cost of hire is based on 24-hour periods so a small extension does not usually affect the price).
If you decide to return the vehicle much earlier than the booked return date and time, there will be no extra charge for this but nor will you be refunded for any unused days.
To extend your rental once you're in possesion of the vehicle you can simply phone your Carwiz office who will check the vehicle availability for you.
It is free to cancel your booking at any time until 48 hours before collecting the vehicle. Once within 48 hours of collection, you will not be able to cancel your booking and any payments made cannot be refunded.
If you wish to make changes to your booking, you will most likely be required to cancel and rebook. There is no cost for cancellations. If you only wish to change your flight or phone number, you can email our customer services team on email@example.com.
Refunds after vehicle collection
The suppler may refuse collection of your vehicle for reasons such as not being fit to drive, missing required identification or not having the correc type of payment card in the lead driver's name with sufficient funds available. In the event of such a refusal, no payments made will be refunded.
The supplier does not offer credit or refunds for early returns of the vehicle.
In the event of "Delayed Charges" (fines, motorway tolls, failing to refuel, extra days, damages, loss and any associated admin charges), your Security Deposit may only be part-refunded.
Unless we indicate a "guaranteed model", vehicles are reserved by class of vehicle and not by make and model. The vehicles displayed are the commonly used models for our partners in your chosen country. If that particular vehicle is not available, the supplier will typically offer another vehicle of the same or higher class at no additional cost.
If you are travelling with disabled passengers, be sure to forward your confirmation email to firstname.lastname@example.org with any special requirements and we will forward these to the supplier for you. We can't offer any guarantees that they will be able to help but we're happy to try. If you're collecting from an airport, providing your flight number will help.
