When collecting the vehicle, the lead driver must present the following:
- Valid driver's license
(Must have at least 1 year's experience. If your license contains any characters which are not in the Latin alphabet, you will also require an International Driver's Permit)
- Credit or debit card in the lead driver's name (Visa and Mastercard only)
- Booking confirmation email
When collecting your vehicle you will be required to leave a security deposit
on your payment card.
Security Deposit - €1050 EUR
When you collect the vehicle it will be full or partially full. You will be billed on collection for the fuel that's in the vehicle. The cost of this is typically between €50 and €135 (depending on vehicle size).
Your fuel options will be explained on collection. As a general rule you will save money choosing "Full to Full" and filling the vehicle up yourself prior to its return.
Your rental includes Unlimited Mileage.
Fees and Taxes
This price includes VAT and all local and airport taxes
Admin fees: Please also be aware that many suppliers charge administrtaion fees following damages or for processing fines. For Centauro you are charged €40 for the processing of any traffic/parking fines or unpaid tolls and, if you do not purchase their extra "SMART Cover", €50 following any accidents.
Come out of the station taking the main exit and turn left. At the first street called ‘Calle Mendivil’ turn left where you will see the Centauro office. Vehicles must be returned to the Centauro car park. (Contact number 0034 966298020).
When collecting the car, the lead and any additional drivers must present their full, valid driver's license. Photocopies are not accepted. Each driver must have had this license for at least 1 year and all driver's must be at least 21 years of age.
If your driver's license contains characters which are not in the Roman Alphabet, you will also require an International Driver's License.
Centauro accept both credit and debit cards but they must be a Visa or Mastercard. It may take 4-7 days after returning the vehicle for the security deposit to appear in your account again.
Prepaid Cards, Maestro, American Express, Diners Club and cash are not accepted.
Check that the card will not expire prior to your return date.
Once your paperwork has been inspected, you will be asked to sign a Rental Agreement. This is a contract between you and the car hire company and contains the terms and conditions for your rental. The agreement may include some location-specific conditions as well as setting out the limitations of any cover you have and the extra costs you may be liable for. You will be given the keys once you and any additional drivers have signed the agreement but don't rush, once you've signed you are legally bound to the terms of that document.
Cross Border Rules
When hiring from Centauro in Spain, you may take the vehicle to Portugal, Andorra and France but only if you purchase the "Cross Border Roadside Assistance" product. This can be added at the collection desk and costs €9 per day (min charge €27, max charge €90). Vehicles may not be taken on a ferry.
If driving into Portugal, we advise that you purchase a temporary electronic toll tag at the border in order to simplify your driving through Portuguese toll roads.
If you will be late for collection, Centauro will attempt to honor the original booking for up to 12 hours after the booked collection time provided that you inform them of the delay. You can do this by contacting your Centauro collection office direct or, in case of a delayed flight, if you have provided a valid flight number as part of your booking.
You should always contact your collection branch if you expect to arrive beyond normal closing time to ensure that they can remain open for you. Any collections outside normal opening hours will incur a €40 out of hours charge regardless of the reason.
Insurance and Cover
Included in the price
This product includes Collision Damage Waiver (CDW) with Theft Protection and Third Party Liability Cover. This means that you are insured for damage to or theft of the vehicle and also against any third party claims.
Should there be a claim, you will be liable up to the value of the excess payment unless additional insurance is taken out. Centauro will replace your car in the event of an incident.
The mandatory colision and theft insurance included with any Centauro vehicle does not include any of the following:
- Damage to a third party or to the hire vehicle due to negligence or inappropriate driving
- Theft of the vehicle with keys left in the ignition
- Loss/damage/theft of extras such as child seats or components of the vehicle like keys, jacks etc
- Loss/Damage/Theft of personal belongings
- Refuelling with the wrong type of fuel
- Administration fees relating to accidents, parking or speeding fines
- Punctures or any damage to the tyres or rims
- Damage to glass or undercarriage
- Damage as a result of forced entry
- Any damage to the vehicle up to the excess amount
You may extend your cover and reduce your excess payments by taking out additional insurance with us or at the collection desk with Centauro.
This vehicle comes with basic cover for theft or damage to the vehicle.
Should there be any damage, you will be liable for up to €1050. For theft the limit of your liability is €1050. Both limits are inclusive of taxes. Be aware that often the same vehicle can be chosen with extra insurance included in the price which will reduce the excess to €0.
Please pay attention to the procedure for reporting an incident which will be explained in your rental agreement at the collection desk. Failing to follow this procedure could result in you being liable for the full value of the claim.
All Centauro vehicles are supplied on a "Level to Level" basis - you should return the vehicle with the same level of fuel it had when you collected it or you will be charged for the missing fuel PLUS a refuelling service charge of €25.
Centauro may offer the option to pre-pay their tank of fuel. With this you do not have to re-fuel the vehicle prior to return and you will be refunded for any fuel that you have not used. You still pay the service charge of €25 however so there's no real advantage in choosing this option.
There is no need to pre-book additional drivers as they can be added at the collection desk. There can be a maximum of 3 additional drivers per booking. The cost is €7 per driver, per day with a minimum charge of €21 per driver up to a maximum of €84. This cost will be higher for young (21 - 24) or senior (75+) drivers.
(Also be aware that if you choose to include premium cover from Centaruo (SMART Cover) with your booking, you would get an additional driver included in the price).
When driving in Spain, any child who is under 12 years old or less than 135cm (4ft 5in) must use a child seat in the rear of the car. Centauro provide the following:
- Baby seat - 0 to 13 kg
- Infant seat - 9 to 25 kg
- Child (booster) seat - 16 to 36 kg
GPS devices are usually available.
All extras are paid for at the collection desk.
Changes to length of rental
After collection, you may return the vehicle early but there will be no refund for the un-used portion of your booking
If you return the vehicle late, you will be charged for each additional day that it is late PLUS a €50 per day fee. Centauro do not offer a grace period for late returns so we recommend extending your return time slightly.
It is not possible to extend a rental
It is free to cancel your booking at any time until 48 hours before collecting the vehicle. Once within 48 hours of collection, you will not be able to cancel your booking and any payments made cannot be refunded.
If you wish to make changes to your booking, you will most likely be required to cancel and rebook. There is no cost for cancellations. If you only wish to change your flight or phone number, you can email our customer services team on email@example.com.
Refunds after vehicle collection
The suppler may refuse collection of your vehicle for reasons such as not being fit to drive, missing required identification or not having the correc type of payment card in the lead driver's name with sufficient funds available. In the event of such a refusal, no payments made will be refunded.
The supplier does not offer credit or refunds for early returns of the vehicle.
In the event of "Delayed Charges" (fines, motorway tolls, failing to refuel, extra days, damages, loss and any associated admin charges), your Security Deposit may only be part-refunded.
Unless we indicate a "guaranteed model", vehicles are reserved by class of vehicle and not by make and model. The vehicles displayed are the commonly used models for our partners in your chosen country. If that particular vehicle is not available, the supplier will typically offer another vehicle of the same or higher class at no additional cost.
If you are travelling with disabled passengers, be sure to forward your confirmation email to firstname.lastname@example.org with any special requirements and we will forward these to the supplier for you. We can't offer any guarantees that they will be able to help but we're happy to try. If you're collecting from an airport, providing your flight number will help.
