At a glance
When collecting the vehicle, the lead driver must present the following:
- Valid driver's license
- Credit/debit* card in the lead driver's name
- Booking confirmation email
- International drivers must also show their passport, proof of return travel and residency information whilst in the UK
* Debit cards must be registered to your home address and cannot be used on Premium or 4x4 vehicles.
When collecting your vehicle you will be required to leave a security deposit ( £200 ) on your card. This will be refunded on return so long as your vehicle is not stolen or damaged.
The supplier accepts all major credit and debit cards. (You may not use Prepaid, Solo, Visa Electron or Diners Club).
Full to full - Your vehicle should be full when you collect it (or have at least half a tank) and you should return the vehicle with the same fuel level to avoid extra charges.
If you would prefer not to refuel when returning the vehicle, you can opt to pre-pay the fuel when you collect the vehicle.
Your mileage is unlimited with no special requirements or extra costs.
You are not permitted to take the vehicle into other countries with the exception of travel between the UK and Republic of Ireland.
Fees and Taxes
All taxes are included in this rate.
There is a £35 administration fee for the processing of any traffic/parking violations.
When collecting the car, the lead and any additional drivers must present their full, valid photo driver's license. Photocopies are not accepted.
If you do not have a UK photo driver's license, additional photographic ID such as a passport will also be required.
All driver's must be at least 25 years of age.
For non-UK driver's licenses which contain characters that are not in the Roman Alphabet, you will also require an International Driver's License in addition to your license.
When you collect your vehicle you must present a valid credit or debit card in the lead driver's name on which a security deposit will be charged.
For credit cards, this amount is reserved on your card until you return the vehicle. For debit cards the payment is taken from your account and refunded on return but, depending on your bank, this can take 4-7 days.
The supplier accepts all major credit cards (Visa, AMEX, Master Card). Debit cards (Visa and Mastercard) are also accepted.
If paying by debit card you should ensure that the address it is registered to matches your home address (which should also be the same as on your license).
Diners’ cards, Travelers Cheques and cheques are not accepted.
Once your paperwork has been inspected, you will be asked to sign a Rental Agreement. This is a contract between you and the car hire company and contains the terms and conditions for your rental. The agreement may include some location-specific conditions as well as setting out the limitations of any cover you have and the extra costs you may be liable for. You will be given the keys once you and any additional drivers have signed the agreement but don't rush, once you've signed you are legally bound to the terms of that document.
Cross Border Rules
Cross border travel outside UK Mainland is permitted only into Shetland Islands, Northern Ireland and the Republic of Ireland. A cross border fee of £125 per rental applies. The vehicle must be returned to the territory where it was rented.
You must contact the local branch at least 48 hours prior to collection of the vehicle to arrange cross border travel.
Insurance and Cover
Included in the price
This product includes Collision Damage Waiver (CDW) with Theft Protection and Third Party Liability Cover. This means that you are insured for damage to or theft of the vehicle and also against any third party claims. Should there be a claim, you will be liable up to the value of the excess payment unless additional insurance is taken out.
Roadside Assistance is provided but you may be liable for the costs should you deemed to be at fault.
The standard insurance included in this product does not cover you damage to the wheels/tyres, lost keys, optional accessories, mis-fueling or towing charges where driver at fault.
You are not covered for death or injury to yourself or any passengers and nor are your own personal belongings covered. You will be offered Personal Accident Insurance and Personal Effects Insurance at the collection desk.
This vehicle comes with basic cover for theft or damage to the vehicle.
Should there be any damage, you will be liable for up to £1000 inclusive of taxes.
You will be offered excess protection cover at the colleciton desk
Please pay attention to the procedure for reporting an incident which will be explained in your rental agreement at the collection desk. Failing to follow this procedure could result in you being liable for the full value of the claim.
Depending on the supplier, you will typically have two choices when it comes to paying for fuel.
- Full to Full: This is usually the most cost effective option. The vehicle will be fuill when you collect and you must fill it up again just prior to return. If you select this policy and do not re-fill the vehicle, the supplier will charge you for the fuel you have used at a price that is often higher than would be charged at a local service station.
- Pre-paid: This is the most convenient option. You pre-pay your tank of fuel (including a service charge) which means you collect the vehicle full and can return it empty at no extra charge. Note that you will not be refunded for fuel you do not use. Some suppliers give us the "pre-paid" rate where we include this in your price but usually we offer "Full to Full" and you would ask to pre-pay your tank at the collection desk.

Additional drivers are added at the time of collection. The additional driver fee is £18.33 per day (incl. VAT) to a maximum charge of £183.
As with the main driver, the additional drivers must be at least 25. Be aware that larger or more expensive vehicles require all drivers to be 30 or older.
When driving in the UK, any child who is under 12 years old or less than 135cm (4ft 5in) must use a child seat. Infant Seats, Child/Toddler Seats and Booster Seats are available and must be added on our Extrras page as part of your booking to be reserved.. All cost £12.69 per day to a maximum charge of £140.99. There is an extra one-way fee of £35 if you are not returning the child seat to the same location. You must fit the child seat yourself.
Be aware that child seats are mostly only available from airport and some station locations. If we offer them on the Extras page, they are available to be booked and we recommend you add them to your booking to help ensure availability.
GPS units are charged at £13.32 per day to a maximum of £91.65.
You will also be offered to extend your basic Roadside Assistance cover at the collection desk.
We recommend requesting any extras in advance as part of your booking to help ensure availability. All prices include VAT and all extras are paid for on collection.
Changes to length of rental
Customers are always advised to contact their rental office should they be late for collection. The supplier reserves the right to cancel your booking should you be more than 1 hour late unless agreed otherwise.
On returning the vehicle you will have a 29 minute grace period for late returns before you will be charged for a whole, additional day's rental.
There is no charge for returning a vehicle early.
It may be possible to extend your rental subject to vehicle availability. You must return in person with the vehicle to one of the supplier's offices to do this and a new booking will be created,
The maximum rental period is 89 days although you must return the vehicle for inspection every 28 days
It is free to cancel your booking at any time until 48 hours before collecting the vehicle. Once within 48 hours of collection, you will not be able to cancel your booking and any payments made cannot be refunded.
If you wish to make changes to your booking, you will most likely be required to cancel and rebook. There is no cost for cancellations. If you only wish to change your flight or phone number, you can email our customer services team on firstname.lastname@example.org.
Refunds after vehicle collection
The suppler may refuse collection of your vehicle for reasons such as not being fit to drive, missing required identification or not having the correc type of payment card in the lead driver's name with sufficient funds available. In the event of such a refusal, no payments made will be refunded.
The supplier does not offer credit or refunds for early returns of the vehicle.
In the event of "Delayed Charges" (fines, motorway tolls, failing to refuel, extra days, damages, loss and any associated admin charges), your Security Deposit may only be part-refunded.
Unless we indicate a "guaranteed model", vehicles are reserved by class of vehicle and not by make and model. The vehicles displayed are the commonly used models for our partners in your chosen country. If that particular vehicle is not available, the supplier will typically offer another vehicle of the same or higher class at no additional cost.
If you are travelling with disabled passengers, be sure to forward your confirmation email to email@example.com with any special requirements and we will forward these to the supplier for you. We can't offer any guarantees that they will be able to help but we're happy to try. If you're collecting from an airport, providing your flight number will help.
