When collecting the vehicle, the lead driver must present the following:
- Valid driver's license
- Credit or debit card in the lead driver's name
- Booking confirmation email
- UK Residents: DVLA License Summary Report or Check Code
- Non-UK Residents: Passport, proof of home address (e.g. utility bill or bank statement) and return travel (e.g. flight) ticket
We recommend UK residents also bring an additional form of identification with further proof of your home address.
When collecting your vehicle you will be required to leave a security deposit of your estimated rental charges PLUS £700 on your card. This will be refunded on return so long as your vehicle is not stolen or damaged.
Most major credit and debit cards are accepted including American Express, Diners Club, Mastercard and Visa.
Full to full
The vehicle will be full when you collect it and should be refueled by you just prior to dropping it off again
There are restrictions on the number of miles/kilometres you may travel
before incurring additional charges. This is often a cheaper option but, if you will be travelling large distances, you may wish to choose a product that includes Unlimited Mileage.
Fees and Taxes
All taxes are included in this rate.
Admin fees: Please also be aware that most suppliers charge administration fees following damages or for processing fines. Keddy by Europcar charge a £0 GBP administration fee per incident should there be any accidents, theft or parking/traffic infringements.
On Site (Shuttle): The collection desk is on airport premises and a short transfer away.
When you collect your vehicle you must present a valid credit card or debit in the lead driver's name on which a security deposit ( rental charges PLUS £700 ) will be charged.
This amount is reserved on your card until you return the vehicle.
The supplier accepts all major credit cards (Visa, AMEX, Master Card, Diners Club and Euro Card). Visa and Mastercard debit cards are also accepted.
For credit cards, the security deposit is reserved on your card until you return the vehicle. For debit cards the payment is taken from your account and refunded on return but, depending on your bank, this can take 4-7 days. Purchasing additional cover at the collection desk will reduce the size of this deposit.
Once your paperwork has been inspected, you will be asked to sign a Rental Agreement. This is a contract between you and the car hire company and contains the terms and conditions for your rental. The agreement may include some location-specific conditions as well as setting out the limitations of any cover you have and the extra costs you may be liable for. You will be given the keys once you and any additional drivers have signed the agreement but don't rush, once you've signed you are legally bound to the terms of that document.
Cross Border Rules
Vehicles hired in the UK may be taken to other countries outside the United Kingdom but only by purchasing Europcar's Europdrive Package at the collection desk. The price for this varies by length of rental as follows: 1-3 days = £70.00, 4-7 days = £90.00, 8-13 days = £120.00, 14-20 days = £140.00, 21-27 days = £160.00, 28+ days = £200.00.
If your rental originates in Northern Ireland there is a reduced rate for travel to the ROI (1-2 days = £25.00, 3-4 days = £58.33, 5-6 days = £83.33, 7-10 days = £125.00, 11+ days = £104.17).
Any customers who will be more than 30 minutes late for collection are advised to contact their rental office to avoid having their booking cancelled. If you're collecting from an airport but are delayed, the desk will usually remain open if you provided a valid a flight number as part of your booking. It is standard practice in the car hire industry to charge you an extra Out Of Hours fee if the branch has to remain open beyond their normal hours for you to arrive.
Insurance and Cover
Included in the price
This product includes Collision Damage Waiver (CDW) with Theft Protection and Third Party Liability Cover. This means that you are insured for damage to or theft of the vehicle and also against any third party claims. Should there be a claim, you will be liable up to the value of the excess payment unless additional insurance is taken out.
24/7 Roadside Assistance is provided but you may be liable for the costs should you deemed to be at fault.
The basic policy does not include cover for medical claims by you or your passengers or cover for your personal possesions.
Damage to glass/windows, lights and tyres/wheels is not included in the standard CDW policy. Cover for these items can be added by taking out extra cover either on our site or at the collection desk.
Lastly, you are also not covered for breakdown recovery/assistance for flat tyres or faults where you are responsible (e.g. lost keys or mis-fueling). You can extend your level of cover at the collection desk.
This vehicle comes with basic cover for theft or damage to the vehicle.
Should there be any damage, you will be liable for
up to £1100.00 inclusive of taxes.
Both Stress Free and Europcar offer excess protection products to provide extra cover for this.
Please pay attention to the procedure for reporting an incident which will be explained in your rental agreement at the collection desk. Failing to follow this procedure could result in you being liable for the full value of the claim.
Depending on the supplier, you will typically have two choices when it comes to paying for fuel.
- Full to Full: This is usually the most cost effective option. The vehicle will be fuill when you collect and you must fill it up again just prior to return. If you select this policy and do not re-fill the vehicle, the supplier will charge you for the fuel you have used at a price that is often higher than would be charged at a local service station.
- Pre-paid: This is the most convenient option. You pre-pay your tank of fuel (including a service charge) which means you collect the vehicle full and can return it empty at no extra charge. Note that you will not be refunded for fuel you do not use. Some suppliers give us the "pre-paid" rate where we include this in your price but usually we offer "Full to Full" and you would ask to pre-pay your tank at the collection desk.
The vehicle you have selected is Full to Full
Additional drivers can be added at the time of collection. The additional driver fee is £11.66 per driver, per day to a maximum charge of £116.66 per driver.
The same age and license conditions listed for the lead driver will also apply to each additional driver. Be aware that larger or more expensive vehicles require all drivers to be 25 or older.
When driving in the UK, any child who is under 12 years old or less than 135cm (4ft 5in) must use a child seat. Europcar offers the following options:
- Child seat for 1-3 years/9-18 kg
- Child seat for 4-7 years/15-30 kg
- Child seat for 0-12 month/0-13 kg
- Child booster seat (Less than 135cm)
In the UK, you will be charged £10.83 per day for a child seat or £5pd for a booster seat (both to a maximum charge of 10 days).
GPS units are also available for £12.49 per day (max £124.90)..
All extras should be requested as part of your booking to ensure availability and all extras are paid for on collection.
Changes to length of rental
Most suppliers have a small grace period for late returns (Europcar state 30 mins) but it is always advisable to ensure the supplier is aware of late returns or extensions to your rental. Often the charges for this will be reduced or waived when the supplier is informed in advance.
You may return your vehicle early; there will be no extra charge for this but nor will you be refunded for any unused days.
You may extend your rental by contacting the supplier at least 2 hours before the end of the rental. You will still need to return the vehicle to a supplier office and enter a new rental agreement.. The maximum Length of Rental is 28 days
It is free to cancel your booking at any time until 48 hours before collecting the vehicle. Once within 48 hours of collection, you will not be able to cancel your booking and any payments made cannot be refunded.
If you wish to make changes to your booking, you will most likely be required to cancel and rebook. There is no cost for cancellations. If you only wish to change your flight or phone number, you can email our customer services team on firstname.lastname@example.org.
Refunds after vehicle collection
The suppler may refuse collection of your vehicle for reasons such as not being fit to drive, missing required identification or not having the correc type of payment card in the lead driver's name with sufficient funds available. In the event of such a refusal, no payments made will be refunded.
The supplier does not offer credit or refunds for early returns of the vehicle.
In the event of "Delayed Charges" (fines, motorway tolls, failing to refuel, extra days, damages, loss and any associated admin charges), your Security Deposit may only be part-refunded.
Unless we indicate a "guaranteed model", vehicles are reserved by class of vehicle and not by make and model. The vehicles displayed are the commonly used models for our partners in your chosen country. If that particular vehicle is not available, the supplier will typically offer another vehicle of the same or higher class at no additional cost.
If you are travelling with disabled passengers, be sure to forward your confirmation email to email@example.com with any special requirements and we will forward these to the supplier for you. We can't offer any guarantees that they will be able to help but we're happy to try. If you're collecting from an airport, providing your flight number will help.
