RV Hire

Our site compares RV hire deals at 1000s of locations globally, including full insurance and all of the optional extras like kitchen utensils and camping chairs. We include RVs of all sizes from small RVs accommodating 2 to 4 people to large motorhomes and RVs sleeping up to 6 people.

Types of RVs

Small Campervans

Renting a small campervan is great to sleep up to 4 people. Being much easier to drive, a small Motorhome makes it easy to navigate the city streets whilst you're on your holiday.

Medium RVs

Comfortably accommodating 4 people, A medium sized hire RV often comes with a fully functional bathroom and kitchen area.

Large Motorhomes

Large motorhomes can accommodate up to 6 people. Perfect for trips with the family. Larger hire motorhomes also usually include a fully functional bathroom,, and often include a lounge area.

RV Extras

At the time you book a RV hire you can select from a wide variety of optional extras. Including everything from linen and camping chairs to insurance excess reduction. It's possible to choose the options you would like to include with your RV on the extras page of the website.

RV Hire Insurance

RV hire on our website always includes full insurance with an excess. The excess amount is the most you would be liable to pay if the RV were to be damaged or stolen. The excess is usually held on a credit card until you return the RV without any damage. You can choose to insure or reduce the excess amount for your rental on the extras page of our website.

Paying for your RV hire

It's possible to reserve a RV by paying in advance on our website. Cancellation rules vary dependent on the type of RV and the location. We recommend checking the terms and conditions of your rental to understand the cancellation rules for your selected rental.

Collecting your RV hire with no credit card and other payment options.

You can use a Visa, American Express or a Mastercard credit card or a debit card issued by your bank or credit card company when renting a RV on our website.

It's worth bearing in mind that often RV rental brands that will allow debit card at the desk are more costly than those that accept credit card only.

It's practical to understand the alternative currency and payment options for your RV hire, as some payments for add ons (like Sat Nav and extra drivers) might need to be paid for in local currency (either in cash or by credit card) at the collection counter.

Would you like us to allow you to pay using something other than debit card and credit card? Do get in touch to let us know. We are open to new ideas about how we can improve our service to make booking your vehicle hire a Stress Free experience.

We accept a range of currencies including Euros (EUR), British Pounds (GBP), US Dollars (USD) and Australian Dollars (AUD).

One thing to think about when deciding if you should use a debit card at the collection desk, RV hire companies frequently block an excess on the lead drivers credit card, the credit card hold can be a large amount of money , if you choose to pay with debit card this will be debited from your account and not refunded until a couple of weeks after completion of your rental contract.

We've made it ridiculously easy on the website to filter which RV rental brands will accept debit card. Simply use the filters on the search results page to compare which RV rental brands do accept your preferred card type when you pick up the vehicle.

Many of the RV hire companies we include accept a debit card when you arrive at the collection desk to pick up the RV; often these do have special terms and conditions related to them. Always be sure to review the terms if you intend to use a debit card at the desk when collecting the vehicle.

Top tips to find a deal on your RV rental

Mileage and fuel policy:

If you are looking around for your rental on other websites, be sure to factor in the fuel policy and mileage allowance. Some other websites hide this away in the T&Cs. If you go over your mileage allowance or hire a RV with a full to empty fuel policy, you could face some unexpected fees when you drop off the vehicle. Our site only includes full to full rentals and we always clearly display the mileage allowance.

Security deposit and excess:

Ensure that you check the amount you'll have to leave as a security deposit on your card. Often, for cheaper RV rentals, you will be required to pay a more expensive security deposit, which will be held on your card when you pick up. You will see the security deposit amount clearly displayed throughout our website.

Additional drivers and child seats:

You can see the cost of these on our extras page. Whenever available we have special promotions, including extra drivers in the price. When free additional drivers are available, you can find them clearly displayed on the search results page of website.

Border crossing and one-way fees:

If you intend to drive the RV over a border into a different country, additional fees are normally charged by the car hire provider. Always check the T&Cs for these fees before you book as they can be quite expensive. If you can't find them on our website, get in touch with one of our car rental advisors and they'll be happy to help.

Stress Free Essential insurance options

As well as being easy to use, friendly and of course, stress free, we offer two different levels of insurance when you hire a RV seater with us.

Essential cover, offered when you make your vehicle booking, is a vehicle hire excess reimbursement policy which covers you on a range of extra costs that standard insurance doesn't.

Essential cover will appear as an optional extra in the vehicle hire insurance options. For some partner/geographical RV rental combinations the cover isn't always offered.

Essential cover doesn't cover things like cleaning fees, mechanical repairs, third party injury, loss of theft/damage to content in the vehicle and other things. To view the detailed information see the T&Cs on the extras page of the website

Why Stress Free Car Rental is different

There's a wide variety of reasons why we are different from our competitors but to start, it's important to understand that Stress Free Car Rental exists because of our own frustration with the process of renting a vehicle.

Stress Free Car Rental do not work with just any RV rental firms. We're careful to only work with brands you can trust.

Our website compares millions of prices at 1000s of vehicle rental locations to find you amazing deals and ensure that booking them on our website as easy, quick and Stress Free as possible

Stress Free Car Rental provide customers with all of the best RV hire prices with no hidden fees.

The reason we do things differently to other vehicle rental websites is because we got frustrated with seeing people being hit with unexpected fees and thought we could provide a better service.

Hiring a Car with Unlimited Mileage

We offer unlimited and limited mileage rental.

Limited mileage rentals can often be a cheaper option than unlimited. When considering limited mileage rentals, the daily mileage limit will always be clearly displayed. If you choose a rental including limited mileage, you will be liable to pay an additional fee if you go above the daily mileage allowance. The total mileage allowance for the rental duration is calculated as (the number of hire days multiplied by the daily allowance). You don't have to remain within the daily limit on every day, as long as the total miles used during the rental does not go over the number of days multiplied by the daily limit.

If you decide to book a limited mileage car hire, we recommend checking the charges for excess mileage. You'll find these in our T&Cs section. It's also possible to use the search filters on our website to find car hire including unlimited mileage which will save you money if you're planning a longer trip

Renting a Car without an Excess Held on Your Card

The insurance excess is the total amount you would be required to pay if the vehicle is severely damaged, written off or stolen. The excess on hire cars can be expensive. It's normally between £900 to £2,000. If you return the car damaged, or it's stolen or written off, you will be required to pay up to the total amount of the excess.

When you pick up the car, the insurance excess is held on your credit card as a 'pre authorised' transaction. This means that the amount isn't taken from your credit card as a regular payment, it's held as a pending payment until you return the vehicle. You don't normally have to pay currency fees on credit cards for pre authorised payments. As long as the car is dropped off in the same condition as when it was collected, this amount will be fully refunded to your card with nothing further to pay.

If you intend to pay for your rental by debit card, the excess is taken from your account and refunded when the car is returned. If you intend to use debit card on collection, as the excess is often high, it's recommended to buy Premium Cover on our website or to pay for top up insurance at the collection desk.

To view car hire options with a £0 or reduced excess check out our Premium Cover rental options.

Car Hire including a Free Additional Driver

Look out for deals on our website including a free extra driver bundled with the price. You can use the filters on the search results page to find bundled extra driver deals. It's also possible to add an additional driver on the extras page before you complete your booking.

How to Rent a Car with Child Seats or booster seats

You can take along your own child seats and booster seats for your car rental, so long as they meet all of the legal safety requirements for use in your car hire location.

You will also have the opportunity to include them with your car rental when you make a booking on our website. Child seats are paid for in local currency when picking up the car.

Hiring a Car with Cross Border Fees Included

If you want to collect your vehicle and take it across the border , you should always review the terms and conditions. Many car rental providers insist that you inform them when you collect the car; and will charge extra fees to top up the insurance. If you fail to do so, it's possible that the rental car will not be insured if you take the rental into a different country.

You can find the information relating to cross border policies by clicking Rental terms and checking the Cross Border Rules section.

If you cant find the cross border terms and conditions for your car hire get in touch with one of our car rental advisors and they'll be happy to help.

How to Hire a Car with One Way Fees included

Most of the car hire brands we include allow you to pick up the car in one location and return the car at a different location. If you have selected a different drop off location for your rental, the prices you'll see on the website will include any extra fees for this. You will also find a breakdown of the additional charges on the payment page.

How to hire a car without a credit card

You can pay for your car hire on our website using any credit or debit card, including Visa, Mastercard or American Express. We also compare car hire deals at 1000s of locations that accept a debit card on collection. You can quickly and easily find these by using the filters on the search results page or taking a look at our Premium Cover options on the extras page.

Renting a Car with a Reduced Security Deposit

At the collection desk, you'll often be asked to leave a security deposit on a credit card or debit card. Security deposits vary significantly subject to the size of the car and the insurance excess amount. Car rental Security deposits can range between £50 and £2,000.

We compare all of the car hire options with a low security deposit and in some instances no deposit at all except for fuel. If you decide to book a rental with Premium Cover included, you can reduce the deposit to cover only fuel (usually less than £100), this is refunded when the car is dropped off with a full tank.

Car rental terminology

Third party liability cover

Third party liability insurance insures in case you cause an accident. If you do, it might injure or kill other people (such as your passengers, people in other vehicles or pedestrians), or damage their property (their vehicle, house or possessions, for example). Since they need to be covered, you could be responsible any claim, or treating injuries or covering their loss of earnings, as well as the third party's legal fees and any court costs.

Third party liability is subject to an excess, which means you would need to pay the first part of any claim (usually between £900 to £2,000, varying dependent on the value of the car, the country and the deal). If you choose to cover your excess , you'll be reimbursed for all of the excess you have to pay. Or if you take out Premium Cover, your excess is often reduced .

Theft liability cover (theft protection)

Theft liability insures the amount due if the hire car is stolen. It usually includes an excess amount, this means you'll need to pay the first part of an insurance claim (normally between £700 to £1,500, depending on the deal, the car rental company and the location.

When you insure your excess , however, you'll be reimbursed for the of the excess you have to pay (See our essential cover). With Premium Cover the excess amount can be reduced.

Insurance excess

For rentals outside of the US and Canada there is almost always an excess held on your card* - this is similar to the excess on domestic car insurance in the UK. However, the excess on rental cars can be very high. It's usually between £1,000 to £2,500. If you decide not to insure the insurance excess amount you will be liable to pay for any damage to the car up to the value of the excess amount. Check out our Premium Cover rental car options if you'd prefer not to have the excess amount blocked on your credit card when you collect the car.

Excess Insurance

Choosing essential cover means you'll be refunded for the excess you have to pay to the car rental company .

Excess insurance also usually covers other possible costs, like cleaning, towing, admin fees and misfuelling costs.

Fuel policy (full to full vs full to empty)

The rentals on our site include a full to fuel fuel policy.

When you collect you rental you'll be asked to pay a small deposit for fuel on your credit card when you collect the car. Ensure that you fill the rental up and drop it off full and there's nothing further to pay for fuel.

You might see full to empty policies on some other websites that seem to be cheaper deals. Always check the small print for full to empty rentals as the refuelling and admin fees included with full to empty fuel policies always make it much more expensive than full to full .

Extra driver fees

A car hire agreement is between the hire car company and the individual that signs the contract and will be the named driver. This requires that you need to ask for other drivers to be added, and this usually comes with a cost (which can be up to £13a day or even more). We often list promotions where extra drivers are free. Beware of being asked if you'd like to add a driver without being informed of the price.

Collision damage waiver (CDW)

It covers the car for accident damage in the same way the insurance you usually have on your own car does. CDW usually includes an excess amount which you can choose to insure with an additional policy (See Excess reimbursement insurance). We also include rental cars that include CDW with a zero excess

Stress Free Car Rental's Premium cover

Premium insurance is the highest option for RV hire insurance we offer.

We want you to be able to make an informed decision relating to which RV rental insurance product is right for you, we work closely with our vehicle rental partners to provide you the option to purchase a Premium cover product.

Choosing Premium Insurance is optional, you can also opt to purchase Premium Cover at the collection desk, It might be cheaper to buy this up front on our website at the same time as you make your RV hire booking.

Many of our clients choose the Premium Cover option when hiring a vehicle because it usually brings the excess down to zero meaning that you have no large security deposit or vehicle hire insurance excess risk. Customers can also often pay with debit cards with Premium Cover if credit card is a problem.
